City Leadership and Serve901 partnered for the second year in a row with Raleigh-based Ascend International to host Passages Memphis! The aim of this program is to inspire and equip emerging leaders in China to develop into thefinest leaders in their homes, in their workplace and in their communities. 2015 Passages Memphis consisted of 15 Chinese students: 10 collegians, 4 high school students, and 1 young professional.
In addition to being shown hospitality by wonderful Memphis-area host families, students were able to learn the importance of teamwork and relationships from leaders representing the following organizations and businesses:
Some of the student’s big takeaways, as seen in this video, were the beautiful blue skies, the importance of generosity as seen throughout Memphis, Tiger’s Blood Supreme from Jerry’s Sno Cones, an impromptu dance party with MTR Residents and students at Streets, time with host families and Uncle Lou’s Fried Chicken (the best chicken he’d had since his first experience with KFC!).
We are so proud of our city for providing an all-star experience to 15 students as 14 of them were in our country for the very first time!
